Ride or Die Foundations for Oily Skin

This is my first “official” post here and I’m truly so excited! You can expect my blogs to be personal, as well as talking about beauty, fitness, and lifestyle topics. We all are just trying to figure out what the hell works! So welcome, and thank you for following me on my new journey. This blog is going to be fun and random, but thats me and I make no apologizes for it. I’m not trying to be like anyone else but me.

Enjoy Ladies xoxo Jackie

NYX Total Control Drop Foundation-  Talk about liquid skin! Remember the Bare Minerals craze that had us all swirl, tap, and buffing to the gods. It was all about the makeup that looked like real skin. I’m torn, because although I appreciate a natural face that is effortless and chic, you know I like to beat the hell out of my face. This foundation is in its own category. NYX Total Control Drop Foundation is liquid skin. It’s long wearing, it smoothes out your pores, and it gives you a buildable coverage that can be customizable to whatever look you wish to achieve. If you have 3 kids and own a business and only have 5 minutes to do your makeup this is for you. If you have an hour and want to slay bitch slay, this is for you too. Out of all the foundations I have tried these past few weeks this truly is the most universal and desirable for all skin types.

Urban Decay All Nighter-  All my oily ladies, all my oily ladies, now put your hands up… Ladies if your not in the oily as fuck club sadly this may not be for you. But for all my oily sisters this foundation is MATTE. Beware you only need 1 pump, don’t get ahead of yourself. This foundation is going to give you a true full coverage. One of the issues that oily girls encounter is not how it initially looks, but how does the foundation wear after 1hr, after 4 hrs, and if your lucky after 8hrs. Well you won’t need luck for this one because it holds up to all of our requirements. It gives you a flawless finish while also maintaining its matte look all day.

Dior Forever-  Hello Lova. This foundation is pure luxury – the smell, the texture, the finish. Honey its Dior, would you expect anything less? What can I say about this that won’t sound as if Dior is paying me to promote them because I’m about to get pretty obsessive. The Dior Forever foundation gives you the snapchat smoothing filter with Instagram editing in a bottle. Thats right, and if you follow me on snapchat you saw it live in action. I went to a music festival in the Florida heat and my friends have never given me more compliments about my makeup in my life. I can not say enough about this foundation. It truly is incredible and everyone should own it. My only negative feedback would be the color choices. There are a lot of pink and neutral undertones in the line so if you are like me and have more of a yellow undertone there are a few but not many. Otherwise it truly flawless.

Maybelline Fit Me Poreless-   Trust me when I say that $50 for a foundation is not cheap, and if I can bring myself to do it, it better be bomb. Luckily with Maybelline Fit Me Poreless you don’t have to. This foundation is only $7.99 and it’s absolutely incredible. You can expect a poreless and airbrushed finish. This will last for up to 8 hrs, and for an oily girl thats a pretty big deal. I am most impressed with the finish. Because I have pores all over, it can be a struggle to find a foundation that doesn’t highlight my insecurity. I need something thats going to smooth them to perfection. DUPE ALERT: This foundation is so similar to Dior Forever that its freaky! Finally, for you girls that may not love a matte look they also make a poreless foundation in a dewy finish. Whatttt? Thats right!

Smashbox Studio Skin-  Alright, so you have a special event. Someones getting married, or your gonna be in front of the camera. You need to be 100% guaranteed that your face is going to stay flawless. This is your foundation. It truly lasted all day and did not break up or move. It didn’t blur my imperfections, but it didn’t execentuate them either. Smashbox Studio Skin is the better choice for normal, combo, and oily skin types when compared to the Urban Decay All Nighter. Some matte foundations can leave your skin feeling tight. Now personally this doesn’t bother me, but if your looking for the coverage of Urban Decay but without the tight matte feeling the Smashbox Studio Skin is definitly for you.

Yes!! Love this post! Thank you! I’m going shopping tomorrow! I am oily, and I have the matte and poreless. I really like it, but it’s nice to have others to switch it up with. I just haven’t found any others that hold up without seperating at some point because of my oily skin. I’m sick of wasting money trying products that end up not working. Thank you so much for being our guinea pig, girl!! Muah! 😘

I agree with Mary! Our skin types are very similar so that plus you being a MUA makes me really value your opinion. Right now I switch between the Fit Me Poreless and True Match. I have been looking in to high end options and was considering Estee Lauder Double Wear. Perhaps I will check out the Smash box or KVD options instead. I look forward to more posts!

Yay, I had been waiting for this post!
I currently own the urban decay all nighter, my issue with it is that it doesn’t stay put for my full 13 hour shifts and I feel like my makeup is always rubbing off on other people if I hug them. I purchased the “all nighter” because I love my original urban decay “naked skin”, I just wanted some more coverage that lasted longer.
I’m and oily/combo type of girl, with blemishes and dry spots from acne treatment.
How are you applying it? I’ve been using a beauty blender, is there a better way?!

OMG, I have been waiting for this post for so long! It was so helpful. I feel like most beauty bloggers/youtubers have dry or normal skin, therefore it’s so hard to find tips for oily skin. I loved this post!!

Omg I’ve been waiting for this for sooooo long, I’m an oily sister if ever there was one! The struggle is real trying to find a foundation and I’m always on the hunt for a good one! Thank you so much Jackie for sharing your experiences I really want to try the urban decay 😍 I’m currently using Estée Lauder double wear and it keeps me matte all day long but I’m starting to find it creases on my skin after a couple of hours…. once again thank you for sharing I love your YouTube videos and snapchat updates keep doing you girl, your killing it 😘 Xx💜

Jackie, thanks so much for sharing this! I follow you on Instagram and snap chat and I’ve long awaited this post! You’re incredibly vibrant, fun, carefree personality really shows in this post! Thanks for taking the time to actually try all these foundations, it makes it so easy for me to skip the experimenting part (especially on a student budget). Thank you again 💜

YEESSSSSS thank you so much for this! And honestly, seeing your replies on why certain foundations didn’t make the cut ABSOLUTELY makes me trust and love you so much more! I mean, just the oily skin factor had me trusting you but I haven’t tried ANY of these foundations and now I am excited to find some new ride or dies! Have you tried MAC prolong wear foundation? That is my go to for weddings/important days like you suggested for the smashbox, and I’m just wondering your professional opinion, if you have ever tried it. SO excited to get some samples and test these out, just in time for summer! SERIOUSLY, Thank you so much for all of your hard work!!

P.S. I know blog posts are NOT easy, but if you do create more, would you let us know what you tried that didn’t make the cut and why, pretty please? Also would LOVE to hear your opinion on translucent powders for the stay all day BEAT DOWN and primers!!

Thank you again! Lots of love and positive vibes girly!

I’m stuck between two foundations for prom this year! I have the most oily skin ever and the largest pores. I am utterly obsessed with the Smashbox studio skin foundation, I just want it to have a little more coverage 😩😩 I’ve been wanting to try out the urban decay for so long and i think i just might now!!

Knew it was coming via snapchat, and FINALLLYYYY got to sit down a read it. First, LOVE that you’re going to be posting regularly; second, that you are unapologetic with who you are – YAS QUEEN, your personality shines through your writing; and lastly, someone who preaches for us oily gals.

Your personality comes through in your blog so much, I love it! After hearing you talk about it on snap, my mom and I both purchased the Dior foundation and we both love it! I would love to see a blog post/video on your freelance kit and what you pack and your must have items that you’ve found work for the jobs you do! For all of us who are a little new to freelancing, it would be awesome to hear what you’ve found works.

I am in the oily as fuck club! Sometimes I get dry patches during the winter (which I have noticed has come with age, yes at 29) Make Up Forever HD was my ride or die, but always looking for better (cheaper) options. Love the Fit Me Matte and Poreless, but may need to check out the NYX Total Control. I wasn’t impressed with their “stay matte” foundation though… Suggestions for primers with any of these???? Thanks! Going to Florida soon and typically the sun will bounce right off my shiny forehead and blind everyone! Also, I will need my makeup last for hours on end…of course!

Thanks so much! I am in need of some good options as makeup is waaaaaaayyyyy more expensive down here in Australia, so I really value these sorts of post. Though I will say the maybelline one is a flop for me and leaves me more greasy and a melting face after just 3 hours… no amount of powder can save it, so I’m always hunting for new amazing foundations so this is a good start!!!!!!!
